Spurs in Talks to Sign “World-Class” Talent – Their Best Forward Since Harry Kane

Although Harry Kane departed Tottenham two years ago, his impact is still sorely missed within the squad. Replacing a club legend—who scored a record-breaking 280 goals and consistently netted over 30 goals in half of his seasons—is no easy feat.

Now, head coach Thomas Frank could have a chance to bring in a player capable of replicating Kane’s attacking influence.

Spurs’ Ongoing Search for Attacking Reinforcements

In recent days, Matias Soule of Roma has emerged as a target for Spurs, who are eager to enhance their forward options. Reports indicate that a £28 million offer has been tabled for the 22-year-old, though Aston Villa are also in the race.

Yet Soule isn’t the only name on their shortlist. According to a Spanish outlet, Spurs have opened negotiations with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who has been made available for transfer. The Brazilian, valued at around £86 million, is also being monitored by Arsenal and Liverpool.

Rodrygo: The Ideal Successor to Kane?

After Kane’s £82 million exit, Spurs turned to Dominic Solanke in a record £65 million move last summer. However, his debut season was hampered by injuries, yielding just nine goals in 25 Premier League starts.

Richarlison, meanwhile, managed only four league goals last term and may be on his way out.

Rodrygo could be the answer. Described as “world-class” by analyst Ben Mattinson, the 24-year-old scored 14 goals in all competitions last season despite primarily playing out wide—an area where Spurs have lacked potency in 2024/25.

Beyond scoring, Rodrygo adds creativity. He averaged 5.1 progressive passes and 3.1 final third entries per 90 minutes. His 2.3 successful dribbles per 90 further demonstrate his attacking threat.

If he adapts well to English football, Rodrygo could prove to be a major coup, potentially becoming the club’s most complete forward since Kane and helping build on their recent Europa League triumph.
